Kevin Gallagher

IT Managing Consultant

About me:

I trained as an engineer.  I completed my apprenticeship with a mining equipment company.  Fixing equipment underground with a team of miners who were bonused by production was good preparation for keeping calm under pressure.

I’ve been lucky enough to have an interesting and varied career across different sectors.  I was CIO at Channel 4 while we moved from a single analogue channel to a truly digital business.  There were lots of things to enjoy and achievements to be proud of.  The main thing that will stay with me is the quality and commitment of the team.

I’ve focused on organisations with a clear public purpose, ensuring alignment with goals and value for money.  I led Digital and Technology at HM Courts and Tribunals for 4 years, working with Ministers, Senior Judiciary and the Cabinet Office.  More recently I’ve had interim roles in Higher Education and with a large charity.  In all cases I’ve brought my experience and ended up learning a lot more from the people there.

I’m excited about working with 4OC – everyone cares about helping deliver great public services.

Working with great people. Understanding a clear purpose. Fixing things that are broken.

Not being able to get things done when there is too much bureaucracy and ‘stuff’ in the way.

What do you do when you’re not working?

We love to travel when we can. Regular family and friends’ days out at West Ham. A repetitive cycle of couch to 5k back to couch. Watch the West Wing and Gogglebox.
